1. My status online says case received and pending and on April 24th, they (received and) mailed me a notice. However the consulting company, when I inquired about a week back, told me it has been approved and they have the approval letter with them. Regarding the online status that has not been changed by USCIS, their response was they must be very busy with GC processing and so on and so forth and did not have enough time to change the status online. Has anyone been in the situation where their consulting agency told them they have the approval but the online status does not reflect it? Could the consulting company be lying about it? 2. Another issue is, I was supposed to begin my SAP training with them but now, I myself have found a decent job on my own. My training did not start so I looked for job on my own. They are willing to hire me but I do not have the approval notice and in fact I am skeptical about whether or not the consulting company has the approval notice. Has anyone transferred to the new company facing this situation? 3. Is it better to work in the company earning with steady growth prospect or work via consulting agency with potential to earn much more in 2-3 years time. Your feedback please. Thanks!

Porcupine, the first thing you should do is call the USCIS customer service with your receipt # and find out about the status of your application. It seems to me that those dhotis are trying to deceive you. Once you know the status, then start thinking about # 2 and # 3 issues of your thread. Hope this helps.

1. In many occassions, USCIS website is not updating the status. One can find it pending where as the application itself has been approved. You may wish to ask your employer to fax you the receipt notice of such document. 2. You may want to discuss this to your lawyer. In an event where you want to transfer, USCIS sometimes requires 2 weeks pay-stub. 3. Depends on individual choice. My preferece would be getting a green card whosever will be the employer, and making a choice once the green card is approved.

Puntedamai/Laborperm/ and those in the know-how 1. I did call USCIS but like Laborperm said, the customer service lady could only verify what’s in the system, which is case received and pending. But she did acknowledge that a lot of time the service centers does not immediately update the approval/denial info. And there is no other way to know about it except to take that consultancy’s word for it. My company is willing to transfer my H1 and I want to do it asap, but I need that approval notice, since they say it is approved. If it was just pending I could have done it. Regarding the pay stub, since I have not started my H1, the pay stub is not necessary. If need be, I can show my OPT pay stub. Also, if I ask them to fax/post my approval notice, wouldn’t they know that I am about to make a move? Will they even give that to me smoothly? Anyone been in such scenario? 2. What would you guys choose? A decently paid job with steady growth prospect or murky job scenario with good amount of risk but good pay and a prospect of much more in 2-3 years time. 3. Anyone in here doing SAP FI/CO? How difficult is it to land a job? How intense is the course? Is it good idea to leave a decently paying job to jump on this bandwagon? Thanks for your feedback!

Why can't you ask your company to send you a copy of H1B approval notice?

I would ask the company to send out the I-797 Action of Notice. If they hesitant in giving you one, let them know that DMV wants to see it. You had to go to DMV to get a new DL as you lost the one you have, and they are asking for approval notice of H1B when you mentioned them that you are in H1B. They will immediatly fax your request. I hope lord that they dont come to sajha to look at this post. Regarding others, I heard SAP is rocking, and the pay is good with nice job prospect. But think about long run. Nothing could last forever.....

Because initially I filed my H1 from a consulting company. Since they did not start the training up till now, I found a job on my own. Now I want to transfer my H1 from them and I doubt they would give my approval paper so easily. If push comes to shove, I have to ask for it. But just wanted to see/find if someone has been in this scenario and understand what the best move is.

When shit hits the fan, it gets ugly as you might know as well. I will push them to get the paper on hand before making any move. Try to hit the nail, and hit it on head, so it gets all the grip. Give it a shot and see what would be the end result.
