I was just searching some videos on how Thai Airways has come along since the past. As you all probably know, then Royal Nepal Airlines ( I dont know what they call it now, they keep changing names so often), and Thai Airways started service in the same year. In 1960, Thai Airlines started service, and now is one of the largest international passenger carriers in the world. Now I know Thailand's a bigger tourism destination than Nepal is, but Thai used itself to fly into Kathmandu, and other destinations around us.

Now I am no airline expert, but I can see where their sucess comes from- their services! Simple as that, Nepal could not deliver that to the passengers (including the conflicts thats always been in the country that pushed u back). I would like the people at our national carrier to watch these three videos and give their standards of service a second thought, maybe adopt mileage programs which I dont know if they have any.

and

Also, I know our national carrier sends so many of its service personnel abroad, helping them with visas and what not, to learn, gain knowledge and experience. Have they returned back to Nepal to do what they said would do? Very few, maybe. How about you stop helping these people that turn their backs on you!

I am not writing this because I am mad at you guys' service but I want you all to succeed like any other airlines out there! I have travelled with you guys once and had no problems. I wish that continued for years to come.

This is just an advice, but please fix the website first, www.royalnepal-airlines.com is a mess! If you cannot have a ticketing system like other major airlines,  you can start off by having a booking system. Incase you didnt know, people now like the idea of not going to a travel agent but buying their tickets online. That could cut down your communication costs, paper and a whole bunch of other stuff.

And all the people who read this give me a raise of hands how many of you all will travel with our carrier once it resumes service? You can get direct tickets to India or Thailand and then travel with our own planes! Wouldnt that be a starting point? Also, how about the government makes it mandatory for its officials to travel our planes then catch on to connecting flights whereever they are going? that could help!

I sure will pay a little extra to see you guys back on your wings! And I am sure there are thousands out there who will do the same, even tell friends and family to do so. It could be a tip off point for tourism in Nepal.

Another key advise, and instead of having a fierce looking creature (with my utmost respect for Hindu Gods), how about our national flower rhododendron, or even Mt. Everest? I know changing names doesnt matter unless you change the way you conduct your business. And bring back the Traveller Nepal magazine, (that was one international quality magazineby the way) and Gardeners Peanuts are always welcome as snacks!

I say cut the middleman, and bring back the smart pilots and engineers and those pretty ladies and  handsome gents that serve as hostesses! and lets soar the skies over Everest! * Batti Balera*

Only two planes, that too require frequent repair, what would our airlines do bro??

If the airline thinks of buying a plane for enhancing the service, the dirty politics comes into play with the thirst for commission and corruption and then it gets cancelled.

It's all politics. Last time the corporation made the compulsion for worker to wear dress (given by the company) but who cared?? No one. Services got halted. Why can't they charge workers not following company rule?? Coz its called politics.

Everything is handled by our dirty politics. Once, our price and Thailand price were of same value. Now its doubled.  Jai Politics.

Peaceonmotherearth's brief analysis of our Airlines is praiseworthy but I would like to add some points to it:

1) I have been reading in a lot on  papers that THAI and RNAC started the service at the same time and that Thai progressed a lot leaving RA far behind. Of course THAI started as THAI same time as RA did but fewer people know that THAI was known as AIR SIAM  which already had big planes and most importantly all the required infrastructures to run an airline. I mean THAI did not start from a scratch as RA did with mere DC-3 aircrafts and one airport called 'Gauchar' (cattle grazing area). THAI was a mere change of name !

2) As Ark pointed out RA was never given free authority to excersice what is right for her at any given time by the so called govt. red tapism.

3) As for staff not returning from abroad 'after gaining knowledge and  experience' , such incidents are very very nominal in RA as compared to other Nepali corporations and institutions. Most of those who are overseas currently did so without any obligations to RA. It should be mentioned here that what is hurting RA is the exodus of pilots and engineers it trained,  to other ' PRIVATE AIRLINES' .

4) And for your information the 'Fierce Looking Creature' is an unique deity of Nepal and one of the main tourist attractor of Hanuman Dhoka. I don't agree it has anything to do with RA's downfall.

5) As for  Govt and semi govt. officials not buying  the tickets from RA, it is known to all that there is an involvement of commission and kickbacks in every purchase where RA lags far behind.

rest of his/her comments are admirable.
