I am developing a website just for myself. i am trying to create a photo album with some navigation. any idea or source? thanks in advance!

Don't spend time trying to create it from scratch. There is no point re-inventing the wheel unless you are a newb and want to learn.

Try some of the plugins like thickbox or light box and there are many more. Just do some google search and you will be good to go.
