Most of us From Nepal are in a religion prohibiting us from eatin  Beef.Cow who we worship as mother god. Most of is Eat Beef n it tastes pretty good too.wat do u guys think about it.

The cow in Nepal (Zebu; humped cattle; Bos indicus) is different than the cows in western countries (which is Bos taurus). Its just like eating BANEL (Sus scrofa) but not SUNGUR or BANGUR (Sus domesticus). In other words, its the BANDEL COW you are eating in the US... so go ahead.. enjoy.

the protein u get from cow will be same as sungur, chiken , dog, horse , even human
y dont u start eating ?
there r certain norms for every culture
like eating dog may seem normal in some countries but for some country it is not
its same for us ... we dont consider eating cow as good ..........there may b not good expaination for not eating cow but that makes us different (at least for me )
i am not saying eating cow is bad .......... whole world eats
just  njoy ur steak .........
just dont make excuse that cow in nepal and cow in other countries are different

Beef is prohibited in Hindu religion and every cow r the same no matter what. I have never eaten cow and will never eat in future. Its according to u to eat cow or not. But eating cow is the greatest sin in hindu religion and cannot be cleaned by anymeans never. Its a sin for a hindu to eat cow.

It is really amazing, some of the Nepalese are so much desperate to eat beef that they start eating beef on their way to USA in fligth itself. Jaslai 5000 barsha dekhi hamro purkha haru le puja gari aayeko cha, ama ko rup ma. We are not concerned about that thing. We just want to copy American life style by eating beef. Baru yaha barsau dekhi basi aayeko Indian haru le pani beef nakhai survive gari ra chan, ani uni haru le afno yahi janmera hurkiyeko bachha haru lai pani aware garayeko chan. I think we should learn something from them.

 

 

 

 

 

Sometimes we gotta question why we do the things that we do! I still don't get why eating one animal is fine (and even needs to be sacrificed in God's name) whereas another animal is worshipped! "Because that's what we have been told to do," is not the answer I am looking for! I am all for traditions that enrich our values, and add color to our life. But stuff like inequality among men or among animals is stupid!

I dont care who says what.  I dont want to change.  there are things which as good as it is.  I dont eat beef.  in every society and culture there are few things which they follow and has been following since a long time. i dont think being in usa or other western countries has to do anything with culture and religion.  i follow the tradition. i wonder how many of beef eaters can proudly say i eat beef also with their parents and grandparents. 

I am an Atheist....I do eat beef but i don't like it much!! BUFF was Better i Guess!!

And: I first ate beef in Nepal( dry meat)[10 years back hola] and then ate in India(tarkari, momo and dry meat)!!

I just dont eat beef not because of the religion just coz I have never eaten it. I am picky when it comes to meat and its not me to try new food. I personally think beef is disgusting.

In my case, I do not feel the pressure of 'religious values'. well, may be, indirectly. But I do not want to limit that into religious reason only. It is like, Biologically there is no harm in having sex with your cousin. There is no concrete reason that having upsidedown flip-flop at your room brings bad luck, but you will turn it right way if you see it. Or like, smoking marijuana is less harmful than smoking cigarettes but it is considered immoral/illegal. You would not try it or at least hesitate to smoke it even after you know that there is no harm trying/doing that. Its like that... its abstract. thats my case.
In addition to that, I tend to keep boundaries to myself so that I can approve myself as 'morally good standing'. Though my parents know that I smoke cigarettes and they do not say anything, I do not smoke 'in front of them'. Its a respect, you may say. But for me its not respect since I already disobeyed them by smoking anyways. Its the boundary that I created, randomly, that I will not smoke in front of parents no matter how much they approve. Its like that... I decided not to eat beef coz I want to stay the way I am. That creates the boundary for me. One day I might cross that boundary but the day I cross that, I will not feel good. I am just avoiding that feeling by not eating beef.

Does it make any sense to anybody?

I don't eat beef, and am sure I will not in future too. I was taught about that so I will follow it. Since, there are lots of option for meat, what will I gain by eating beef that I am not supposed to eat  following my religion ? I never consider beef as an option for me.

But, I was surprised to hear there are some Nepali eating beef, regardless of any reason. I though not eating is one of the truth about Nepali no matter which part of the world you go !

Well said copycat, it makes sense to me!! Eating beef is not something i crave for but i eat it!! Its like anyother red meat. and when you are in america its specially difficult to avoide it. People eat it either intentionally or some might even eat it unintentionally. That does not make them sinners. While i respect the people who choose not to eat it, i also thinks its okay if you choose to eat it. NO harm done!!

WHO SAID WE CANNOT EAT BEEF ? US.I don't think God came over and decided that people in this area should not eat beef or people living in that area should not eat pork, or seafood. We as humans made these rules ourselves. Bottom line FOOD IS FOOD regardless of what animal or plant. If you are in a famine stricken area and someone gives you a peice of meat ... would you rather starve yourself to death or save yourself by eating whatever meat is given to you.
