Hey Flips, I'm reading "The Notebook" at the moment. Liking it..

Captain - Started on "inheritence of loss" but then couldn't feel the enthusiasm to go further and I did not like the bookk including "Nepali Gurkha". At the moment, very few pages on "Hundred Years of Solitude". After 2/3 pages, I fall asleep.

sndy - Heard it's a good book, infact the movie itself was good (I heard hai, haven't watched it yet).

Captain - Somehow I find Rushdie way too deep to understand.

I personally liked the Inheritance of Loss but I realize it might not be to everyone's liking. When I recommend that book to my friends from Nepal, I remind them that the books looks at Nepalese from the perspective of Bengalis. It's hard I guess sometimes to see ourselves from the eyes of others. Oh well.

What's the other book about?

He he ... once upon a time, not so long ago, I used to feel that way about Rushdie too. I feel quite differently now. Have been enjoying this one.

Brig Ma'am - Whats the Notebook about?

It's a romantic novel. Just read few chapters. I'm finding it interesting..

i am not that book reader,

but that book 'inheritence smthing' was heavily bashed in one of the nepali website. I guess, it is kantipur.

The way the critics criticized, i dont like it either.

If you are referring to the same article that I think you are, sorry to say, that was one of the whiniest book reviews I have read. I'd urge people, especially thinking people, to make up their own minds after reading the book themselves.
