We were taught in school that this charismatic king of gorkha unified a nation that was divided in to fragments of small kingdoms.I do not recall anywhere in the earlier part of Nepal's history about the kingdom being a single nation before its unification.How could this be possible?The present monarch which is a product of the gorkha palace endorses and enforces that belief.The wit and military strength of gorkha king Prithivi infact used the offensive military tactics to declare wars and attack smaller kingdoms to stretch his empire.Gurkha king was an imperialist not a unifier.

I would say that people are trying to blame everyone who raises the voice or doubt as saying 'Communist'. I'm neither teenager nor communists. Even if I were one, does it make any difference? When Mr. Shiv Shankar (first actor of Nepal) needs some help to get for abroad check-up, state gave him Rs. 50,000. But he really needed it because he really couldn't afford it. At the same time, King's sister who owned big buildings, apartments, businesses n' star hotels in Nepal got Rs. 20 million because she also need to go for health check-up. What is her contribution to country besides being born inside palace? Where does that money come from? Why does any artist or players or any other good people in Nepal are able to get help in time despite their wandering to all government houses? Come on guys, open your eyes. I guess that we really deserve what's happening in Nepal coz' we're proud of having Poor Corrupt Nepal. No matter how much we suffer. We're ready to die for our throne. We should focus on today, because thats all we have. We cannot judge PN shah by -say, what the current king is doing- or we cannot judge the present king by how Pritivi Narayan Shah was.

This is a very interesting and well responded thread. I think most of us using the internet are not the representative sample of the nepali population. However, be aware, that it falls upon us to pave the way for the future.

Some people have been disturbed by the fact that others can question the badamaharajdhiraj and his ways. But, it is how- in my opinion- an educated society should function. Having doubts, finding information, sharing views, and logical argument is essential. We have a long way to go.

If you look at the history of Nepal, there has not been peace and prosperity in any part of Nepal according to history as there was in Malla period in Kathmandu. The King back then cared for the people so much that he used to go to the top floor of Taleju to look at the houses to make sure all the chimneys had smoke so he knew people had enough to eat.

Ever since the shah king, Nepal has gone down the drain. They seems to be more interested in bloodshed, personal gains while the Malla king of that period was actually concerned about the citizens. If we dispose of the current Shah king and put a Malla king in place, the situation is likely to get better.

It is no surprise to get such kind of reactions from parasites like Mr. Mahakaal, who has been sucking poor nepalis for centuries. These doubts on their parasitism put them in danger.
