. Marwari`s Origin: Marwaris are a group of Indo-Aryan people from the Marwar region of Rajasthan in India and with the partician of India in 1947 the northen boarder separated a section of the nation in the provinces of Sindh and southern Punjab, Pakistan. This resulted in both economic and social isolation from those living in the south. Today there are about half a million Marwaris living in Pakistan. Traditionally, they are known to speak the Marwari language. The region Marwar includes western part of Rajasthan that includes the great Thar Desert. The word Marwar is considered to be derived from Sanskrit word Maruwat, the meaning of maru being 'desert'. Others believe that word Marwar is made up of Mar from alternate name of Jaisalmer and last part war of Mewar. The development of the fresco paintings on Havelis in Shekhawati region is linked with the history of the Marwaris. The influential business community people from Shekhawati region are also known as Marwaris. The Shekhawati region has produced large number of Marwaris who are leading the economy of India. India's richest industrialists of the century, such as the Birlas, Piramals, Bajaj, Sultania, Singhania, Poddar, Modi, Rungta, Ruias, Khetans, Mittals, Sanghis, Vaids, Kotharis are Marwaris. Historically, Marwaris belong to the Vedic Kshatriya community. During the middle and late Mughal period they started diversifying from their warrior culture into other occupations such as commerce, finance and industrial manufacturing. Their strong belief in traditional Rajasthani culture continues to this day. Some people even from Haryana and Malwa region are included in Marwaris. . http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marwaris

Marwadi Jokes : The Accident A moment or two after a highway accident, an old Marwadi man came up to a woman lying by the roadside. "Have the police come yet?" the man asked. "No," the woman moaned. "Has the ambulance been here yet?" "No," the injured woman repeated. "How about the insurance company?" "No." "Listen," the Marwadi said, bending down. "Do you mind if I lay down next to you?"

There you go again digging the past. Won't do you good. 1500 yrs ago Nepal used to be part of India. Couple of hundred yrs ago Tibet used to be part of China. 80 yrs ago Israel did not exist. 16 yrs ago all of eastern Europe used to be part of Russia. But things are different now. Same goes for yor analogy. Tyahiii ta tyo 9-10 ko development ma kahiley pugney ho... ? khaaali yestai saaano tiiino kura aiiimaiii just jhagada garchan. Ani desh ko bikaas kasari huncha ta ? Suna wrote: >I support democracy but not every country can practice >the somewhat "shaded" american democracy. Suna, Somewhere there resonates my sad discovery that the democracy that American academia preaches and the one US government practices are not the same. So I believe I might be sharing a lot of your views. However, the issue here at hand is that of "inclusive democracy", a major transformation/revolution Nepal has embraced. And we were talking about a community demanding 2 seats from the total of 48 reserved essentially for the excluded communities. To me it is not about the seats. I am just happy to see all the minority, the excluded and the marginalized communities coming forward to claim their share, which to me conversely translate into their solid statement that they belong to Nepal. This is what a national unity is all about, don't you agree ? Nepe

maybe i am not getting it but in the 21st century if we can't go past our prejudices Nepal can never progress. Marwadi community are here to stay. why can't they have representation is beyond my comprehension. am i prejudiced? sure i am .. to be honest i am very prejudiced ..but i also have conscience which prevents me from being discriminatory. in other words i am really evil at heart but it is fully controlled by my rationale mind. let them have representaion in the government maybe they can bring new insight in boosting the economy.

bathroomcofee.....isnt thas a place to just speak ones mind?/.....for you it might be just pyar pyar pyra like a girl.........so what do you suggest we do?? any bright ideas???? you always leave short notes and quick responses to everyones remarks...sometimes nice ones sometimes a harsh one................now if all were to be like you in responses......where would you come??...I mean not everyone responses like you...we like long discussons...leaving room for people like you to present your critique. talking about the marwaris they are rich people in nepal having good links to Indian business....they own a lot in Nepal.........and provide a lot of daily needs to the population.....via India and their companies in Nepal and India..........they in my eyes are like a link in business and trade between india and Nepal.......and I think they have the better end of it.........well they worked for it .....they deserve it too....We as a country depend on Indian products soo much that if we stop right away Nepal would crash..................................marwaris have a lot of money they will leave our country and go back to India or elsewhere with the huge wealth accumaleted......if the day comes.....................where will all the poor nepalese go??? who have supported the supply and demand ratio to make the marwaris rich................if they want to be Nepalese citizens........and there are marwaris who will represent them in the seat .....I have no problem.................but why wouldnt they accept who is elected...if they are nepalese does it matter who represent s them.............???// they have the money and India to pose their will in the business and the economy of the country....if the comnmunists comes in Nepal..........and apply the equality formula..... all the rich marwaris will dissappear with all theeir money before we can even blink......thats how cunning they are...............................If they will stay and suffer like we all will have to ...then I say welcome brother....if not ......ZIP IT

Yeah Nepali people have only themselves to blame for making the Marwadis rich. Kinda like Detroit getting threatened by Japanese cars. Detroit only has themselves to blame for making shitty autos. Just the same way we only have ourselves to blame for not being able to compete with the Marwadis. Our fellow citizens would rather come in a place like this and B!TCH about it rather than working on solutions to catch up with them. Our nepali society is not short of professional talent to compete in the same level. But we'd rather sit around sipping tea than doing any work. And then like MORONS we come here and ask how did this happen ? he he
