Audio-visual cassette on Nepali poems soon

KATHMANDU, Aug. 14: Youth poet Anil Poudel is to produce an audio- video cassette of Nepali metrical poems.
The poems will be in various 15 metre- types including Shardul Bikridit, Sragdhara, Shikharini, Mandakranta, Anustup, Malini and Panchachamar.
The cassette will cover poems by poet laureate Laxmi Prasad Devkota, Lekhanath Poudyal, Yuddha Prasad Mishra, Madhav Ghimire, Bharatraj Pant, Ram Prasad Gyawali, Agam Singh Giri and other poets.
The poems will be read out by 18 poets including Dahal Yagyanidhi, Ramchandra Bhattarai, Bhuwan Hari Sigdel, Govinda Acharya, Pratibha Sharma, Somnath Subedi, Anisha Singh, Kunti Moktan and Ram Krishna Duwal.
Convenor Poudel said as the shooting for the same began from August 9, voice recording was carried out at Music Nepal and that nine poems have so far been recorded.
Poudel aims to make public the audio-video cassette by Dashain festival this year after completing shooting and recording by mid September.
He said the objective of his plan was to make maximum utilisation of the information technology to reach metrical poems and the special art of reciting it, styles and traditions to the people home and abroad in order to preserve it by making representation of both avante garde poets as well as those of present generations.
