ResaamFiriri:
R u sure man? Coz' my frens just traveled to Nepal via Hongkong, and were required a transit visa both ways.....Makar_Tantra is right....you do need a transit visa...PeaceLand Travels will get the visa for u, but you will have to send them ur passport(s). Otherwise, if you have a Chinese Consular close to where u live, you can just walk in with ur passport and the ticket ! Hope this helps !

I am sure, cuz I went to Nepal via Hongkong three months ago.I didn't have transit visa.Just common sense, those nepali who don't have transit visa must return back to nepal immediately,so ...I think this is just a small trick of travel agency to make more money.

pire,
RNAC do not reconfirm your return ticket if you don't have transit visa.that means you are not allowed to take the aeroplane without visa.

reshamfiriri,

thanks again for info. was it easy to get visa for hongkong from kathmandu? how long did it take? did they make an issue of the fact that you didn't take transit visa while going to Nepal from USA, I assume that was also illegal, isn't it?

its very easy to get chinese visa, you just have to fill the firm, they won't ask you any question.for ordinary visa ,it takes 2 or 3 days, urgent visa on the same day,but you have to go to chinese embassy 9:30 in the morning, you can get visa in the evening,4 o' clock, i think.i also didn't have visa when i went to nepal.

just one more clarification:

I looked at the website of chinese counsellor here and they seem to say that they have to ask Hongkong immigration office for this matter, so it might take more than 2, 3 days.

Did you get Chinese visa or Hongkong visa? shouldn't it be hongkong SAR visa eventhough from chinese embassy?

to return back from nepal via hongkong you need transit visa which you can get from chinese embassy very esaily.if you have enough time you can apply for ordinary visa which take 2 or 3 days, but if you apply for urgent visa (you have to pay little more money),you can get on the same day.you don't need to take hongkong visa.i spent eight hours in the airport,i didn't get any problem.

Nepal needs developers lilke you Pire.
So all the so called developers or at least those wishing for Nepal's better future should go to Nepal and develop.

By the way pire---why are you going via Hongkong? is it cheaper for you that way?

I would suggest you to take a visa right here in US so that you do not need to worry in Nepal.

Good Luck..

cool bro,

It is all of us who should work for nepal. I really feel that. no country can prosper without some generations selflessly giving up their luxury for the benefit of future generation. It is so abstract, and it is so true. Otherwise, I mean Hongkongese are treating us like this now. What will happen in future? If our children has to go to USA from Nepal, will they have to take visa of four countries? like visa of India,Qatar, London and USA or something like that?

ani, I haven't made up my mind for the route yet, but it seems like Hongkong is an option, tara khai, hamro ghar tira na aija bhanne koma kina janu?

Visa requirements on Nepalese nationals

3 June 2005

The Immigration Department announced today (June 3) that from next Monday (June 6), it will cease to accept visa applications from nationals of Nepal wanting to study or take up employment in Hong Kong, including establishing or joining in any business, training and as a domestic helper or imported worker.

This arrangement will continue until further notice.
A department spokesman said that applications for study or employment received before June 6 would continue to be processed.

"The new arrangement will not affect Nepalese residents in Hong Kong. Their applications on or after June 6, 2005, for extending their stay to continue working, studying or living in Hong Kong will continue to be accepted for processing," the spokesman said.

"Nepalese are currently required to obtain a visa for visiting Hong Kong unless they are in transit and remain on the airside. From June 6, 2005, Nepalese visitors must hold a visa for entering Hong Kong, including airside transit."

The Immigration Department will continue to accept and process applications from nationals of Nepal for entry as dependants and under the Capital Investment Entrant Scheme, the policies on which remain unchanged.

"The department regularly reviews its visa policies and will take social and economic factors into account as well as the political situations of countries and territories concerned in order to devise a visa policy that assists genuine visitors while maintaining effective immigration control," the spokesman said.
