Hello everyone, Due to an overwhelming reason, I will not be able to pay my tuition fees from last semester. If I don't pay, will I be out of status? Will they deport me? Can they cancel or hold my passport? Please suggest. Should I go back to Nepal?

What about paying for this semester? I assume you were not be able to regiister which automatically makes you out of status. And to make matters worse, the amount owed will be sent to a collections agency which will end up fu(king your credit...Even if you are looking to transfer, they will not issue you a transcript unless you know somebody inside (a student worker in the registrar's office) who'll issue you one. If you get the transcript, then I'd suggest you transfer to another college ASAP...at least your visa may be saved but you credit will still remain fu(ked. Whatever the case act quickly before its too late.

But I really want to go back to Nepal. I'm just worried if they'll revoke my passport.

The only person who can help you now is you Intl Students Advisor. As So What said, they may be able to do something to keep you enrolled in the program when you get back from Nepal.

the only way is you have to talk to your Int adviser.
and take a semester break.
either go to Nepal and get money or work your @ss of here. and end of the semester leave state and come back by goin to CANADA or MEXICO. but remember not more than one semester, and that include summer semester too.
but before doing that take suggestion from your Int'n Adviser.

Pirati ji,No other country can cancel your Passport other than Nepalese Authority. So there won't be any problem if you want to go back to your loving country. And If you have Visa current, you can come back with another I-20 if you want but it seems to me you are done with American life and wants to continue your education back home.

Good Luck and enjoy better life in Nepal.

Pirati,
You can happy go back to nepal. It will just go to collection and ruin your credit. Don't worry about the passport.

Hey, you can leave today if you want...Only thing is that it may be difficult for you to return (thats why, consult your Intl advisor). If you aren't interested in returning to the US, then you could leave whenever your tickets have been booked for. And the fees, don't worry about it if you aren't gonna come back again.

if you're on yourlast semester, just finish it up. Go talk to the cashier's . They usuall let you sign for promosory note. I paid my last semester's tution after working in opt for a year. they do however hold your transcript and diploma. As long as you leaving usa goes, no they can't stop you. But finish it up no matter how hard it is.. apply for opt, take some loans whatever.. there are contracting agencies who'll hire you no matter what your major is after graduation...just finish it up.. you'll feel better for all your life...

Not trying to make a fun of you Pirati, but you can wish that they'll make you stay here in the US. Haha what a sweet punishment would that be, being forced to stay here if your're unable to pay ur tuitions lol :D But anyways talking to your advisors would be the best idea. The outrageous college costs are going up again! My college just sent me a "lovely" mail saying that the price is gonna go up by 1400 dollars. Freaking ridiculous if you were to ask me!

Pritati,
You got 15 days to pack your bags and get outta this country after you end yor semister. After 15 days, if you are still in this country you will be consider illegal. So, if you want to come back here again, I would suggest to leave within that 15 days. if you leave after 15 days but before 180 days (6 months), I think you will have 3 years bar from applying for US visa again. If you leave after 180 days, you will be under 10 years bar.
