Riot
They came from nowhere,
Burning Effigies,
With sticks and sickles in hand,
Devastating everything in their way,
I feared coz my skin was fair,
Like a refugee,
In my own motherland,
Fleeing for I couldn’t stay,
To watch the horrors unfold,
Right before my eyes,
Sight and smell of burning tyres,
Left me nauseated,
Playing to audience of whole world,
I heard the screams, I heard the cries,
Of people ablaze in fire,
Leaving entire population decimated,
Smashing windows, razing homes,
Killing cattle, raping women,
Looting crops, mutilating children,
They went berserk on a murderous campaign,
Leaving only ashes and bones,
Conflagration swept, until break of dawn,
Yet everybody choose to remain silent,
On a dreadful night, when heartless reigned,
