Mobile phones from abroad have to be registered in the MDMS system introduced by Nepal Telecommunication Authority.
Hence, if you have bought a phone for use in Nepal, keep the receipt. You need to present it for registering it in Nepal. Otherwise, the handheld set will not be able to operate in Nepal.

MDMS kills privacy and is dangerous for government to wnforce. Not sure why nobody is speaking against this.
